Recent Developments in Western Australia

What you Need to Know

Last Updated 4 February 2021

Recent government restrictions and bushfires in WA may have affected your eBay business.

We’re implementing a range of protections to support you and keep your eBay business running.

How We’re Protecting you

The following protections apply to sellers based in WA or are posting items to buyers in WA. These protections apply to transactions from 00:01 AEST 29 January 2021 until at least 11:59 AEST 14 February 2021:

  • Late Shipments and Cancellations: We will automatically remove your Late Shipment Rate defects, Seller Cancellation defects and related Negative or Neutral Feedback received for transactions between the above dates.
  • Item Not Received Claims: Your Item Not Received (INR) count in Service Metrics, along with any related Negative or Neutral Feedback will be removed for transactions between the above dates. To be eligible, upload valid tracking before the delivery is scanned.
  • Estimated Delivery Date Extensions: We’re extending Estimated Delivery Dates onsite for all items located in or being sent to Western Australia. This change will help manage buyer expectations and give you more time to fulfil your orders.

Managing Your Deliveries and Returns

If you’re a seller based in an affected area and you use local pick-up, please consider alternate delivery options at this time.

You can use the eBay Labels Platform to send your items with the option of courier pick-up for your parcel as opposed to drop-off with Sendle at no extra cost.

Please note that due to Government restrictions, some Sendle drop off locations in these areas may be currently closed. Please check the drop off locator before heading to your usual location. You can learn more about eBay Prepaid Postage Labels on the Seller Centre.

We encourage you to check the latest updates from your postage carrier to see if your deliveries may be impacted.

Putting Your Business Into Holiday Mode Government Support
If you need to take a break from your eBay Store for any reason, you can put it on Holiday Mode which hides your fixed-price listings. This means buyers won't see them in your eBay Store or in search results. Buyers who have already purchased items will still be able to view them.
Governments at both the state and federal level have announced a number of measures to help ensure businesses are supported during this difficult time. Whether you’re a sole trader, you employ staff or you own a company, there are options available to you.
