Benefits of eBay Plus for Sellers
The eBay Plus seller criteria
To enable the eBay Plus Badge you need to meet a range of both seller performance and listing criteria. As a seller, you need to meet and maintain an Above Standard or eBay Top Rated performance standard. You also need to keep compliant with our selling policies. This in line with online shopper expectations and retail standards. It’s important to note that some categories are excluded from the eBay Plus program due to size limitations on the eBay returns platform. See our list of category exclusions to ensure your listings are eligible.
In addition, as the eBay Plus badge is applied at a listing level, we understand you may not be able to offer this level of service on all your listings. We provide you with the flexibility to choose which listings to enable as eBay Plus using business policies.
- Free standard postage nationwide
- A reasonably priced express postage option to metro areas
- 0-1 day handling
- 30+ day returns
In mid-2021 previously restricted categories will be eligible for eBay Plus including:
- Non-returnable items - We won’t require you to offer 30-day returns on inventory that can’t be returned for hygiene or safety reasons (such as swimwear and underwear). Download our list of categories we consider non-returnable
- Bulky items such as home appliances and flat-pack furniture. Details on postage requirements will be provided before it is implemented.
You’ll still have to meet the other criteria to be part of eBay Plus.
How to enable the eBay Plus badge
Your items need to be located in Australia and also have an Australian return address. Only fixed-price listings, priced at $15 or above that aren’t bulky are eligible for eBay Plus.
You should set-up a business policy for the remaining eBay Plus postage requirements. You can set-up the postage rate tables within this policy to specify free standard postage nationwide, a reasonably priced express postage option for metro areas and 0-1 day handling. You must also set-up a returns policy that accepts 30+ day returns. Then simply choose which of your listings to apply these policies to. Remember, we’ll give you up to $4 back for the cost of sending your parcels with express postage.
You also need to upload valid tracking on at least 95% of your eBay orders in order to retain the badge. Tracking improves the shopping experience for buyers and helps protect you against negative delivery Feedback or ‘Item not received’ claims. It also means we can provide more accurate delivery estimates based on carrier performance.
Opting Out of eBay Plus
The eBay Plus badge only appears on listings that meet the new criteria. If you do not want to be part of eBay Plus regardless of whether your listings are eligible or not, you have the option to opt-out by emailing us at PlusOptOut@ebay.com . Once opted-out, you cannot opt-in on your own.
*Based on a comparative analysis of ~170K listings that didn’t have the Plus badge for at least 365 days and then obtained and had the badge for at least 180 days during 1/8/18 – 30/4/19.
*eBay may still exclude some listings that meet the criteria from the program - e.g. bulky items and low-value items typically sent in letters.
**Free postage nationwide within Australia, with no additional postage charge for multiple items. You can charge for postage to external territories (Norfolk Island, Antarctic Bases, Christmas Island, Cocos (Keeling) Island), however then buyers in those regions won’t see the eBay Plus badge on your items. You may exclude PO Boxes if your carrier doesn’t deliver there.
***eBay's maximum contribution is $4. For example. if you're charging $2 for the express upgrade, we will cover $2. If you're charging $7, we will cover $4.
^For example, if your carrier charges $6 for standard postage and $10 for express, then you should only charge the buyer $4 for express postage. There is a $15 maximum express postage cost for badge eligibility.^
