eBay Guaranteed Delivery

--Paragraph Start--

As announced in the Autumn 2018 Seller Update, we're continuing to strengthen our delivery experience with eBay Guaranteed Delivery (eGD), which is now available to all buyers.

eBay Guaranteed Delivery has become the new delivery standard on eBay. Buyers’ expectations are continuously evolving with fast, accurate and reliable delivery now representing the norm in online retail. By simply offering buyers guaranteed delivery of an item in 4 days or less, you could increase your sales potential and customer satisfaction. Based on recent data, shoppers are 45% more likely to purchase if they know the item will arrive in 2-3 days*.

eBay Guaranteed Delivery items that can be delivered in three days or less are highlighted through an exclusive Guaranteed Delivery toggle. Buyers also have the option to filter their search results to display only items that can be delivered in four days or less, so offering guaranteed delivery timeframes can provide you with greater visibility and prominence in search results.

Please note: From 5 June 2018, to make it easier to participate in eBay Guaranteed Delivery, we'll be removing the requirement to offer returns.

What You Need to Do

--Paragraph Start--

If you'd like to offer eBay Guaranteed Delivery, simply follow these steps:

  1. Check you meet the requirements, including:
    • Above Standard or eBay Top Rated seller
    • Offer 30-day returns, using your listing's structured fields. (See our recommendations for best-in-class returns.)
    • Offer immediate payment on the listings you wish to make eligible
  2. Opt in to eBay Guaranteed Delivery (or register your interest)
  3. Use our updated postage rate tables. Postage rate tables are a key requirement to be a part of the eBay Guaranteed Delivery program. Set your handling cut-offs times and specify the speed (incl. handling time) in which you can deliver to each region. This will give you more control and provide more accurate delivery timeframes to buyers.
  4. Associate the listings you want to guarantee with your postage rate tables. This can be done:
    • At a listing level
    • Using our bulk editor
    • Using business policies (if you have them)

If you’re using an integration partner, please make sure you check that the updates to your postage rate tables and/or business policies are transferred from your account. For a guide on how to create and manage listings for eBay Guaranteed Delivery using eBay APIs, please download our API Integration Playbook for eBay Guaranteed Delivery.

Tips for optimisation:

If you already have or are considering enabling eBay Guaranteed Delivery, here are a few tips on how you can optimise your delivery performance:

  • Review your postage rate tables against your carrier delivery zones to ensure you're not overpromising on delivery speed.
  • Ensure you're uploading validated tracking information (no typos on carrier names or missing information) on time.
  • Set up same-day handling cut-off times for more control.
  • Enable immediate payment and offer returns on listings you wish to guarantee.
  • Focus on inventory where you think buyers will want fast delivery (such as fashion and tech).

Don't forget, we're here to help! If you require further assistance and ongoing support with your eBay Guaranteed Delivery listings, please do not hesitate to contact our eGD Support Team.

When is this happening?

eBay Guaranteed Delivery is now visible to all Australian buyers. Don't miss out on your opportunity to increase your sales by over 68%*. Opt-in now or see how you can optimise your delivery performance.

Click and Collect Expansion

--Paragraph Start--

We’re continuing to provide you with greater flexibility and unparalleled reach by partnering with ParcelPoint to expand the Click & Collect service.

Buyers still have access to Click & Collect with Woolworths and soon with ParcelPoint, they'll have access to an additional 1,400 locations. With no extra cost to you, buyers can choose the increased convenience and confidence of knowing that their item is being held in a secure location.

When is this happening?

We're in the process of adding some of ParcelPoint's locations. By the end of June, we'll have over 1,400 ParcelPoint locations available.

What you need to do:

You don't need to do anything – buyers can select a Woolworths or ParcelPoint location as their delivery address during checkout, then you simply prepare and send their order as usual.

Make sure you include the unique code (eCP) that's part of the delivery address so the parcel can be processed when it arrives at the Click & Collect location.

Postage Service Promise

--Paragraph Start--

At eBay, we always want to ensure you're providing a great customer experience to buyers. So we've updated our Selling practices policy to reflect the importance and requirement of maintaining your postage service promise.

By uploading valid tracking information when the postage service offers tracking and using the postage service you promised in your listing, buyers will know when to expect their item to be delivered. Using a slower postage service than the one you promised in your listing may result in your item being delivered later than your customer expects. Late deliveries can increase buyer requests for items not received, which can be time-consuming and costly to service.

Buyers expect to receive their orders on time, especially when they pay additional fees for express delivery services. Before you create a listing, always determine the cost, tracking availability and delivery speed of the postage service option(s) you plan to offer.
