Making it Easier to Resolve Returns Claims
Read This if
- You are a seller activated or registered for Managed Payments
- You want more flexibility and control when managing return requests
- When managing returns, you want to give buyers the option of keeping the item and offering a partial refund
From late March
If you are activated or registered for Managed Payments you’ll have the option to offer partial refunds to buyers.
What you Need to Know
Currently, when buyers open a return request, eBay will automatically accept the return if it’s in line with your return policy. From late March, if you use Managed Payments you’ll have the option to offer a partial refund even when eBay auto-accepts a buyer’s return request.
You can make the offer as long as the buyer hasn’t posted the item. If the buyer accepts the partial refund, they keep the item and receive the offered amount.
How Does it Work?
When you receive a return request you’ll see a new button in the eBay Returns flow titled ‘Refund Options’, where you have the option to offer a partial or full refund to the buyer. If your buyer accepts, the return request will close.
Please note, you should not expect the item back once your buyer has accepted a partial refund. If the buyer does not accept your partial refund offer, the return request will remain open, and you should expect the buyer to return the item.
