Creating a Seller Account

To start selling on eBay, you’ll need a seller account. Setting up your account is free and only takes a few minutes. The type of account you need will depend on if you are a casual seller or a business seller.

Casual Seller

First, you’ll need register as an eBay member. This will involve;

  1. Creating your ID and password

  3. Confirming your identity
  4. Setting your account preferences

  1. Complete the Business Registration form.
  2. Choose how you’ll pay your eBay fees; PayPal, credit or debit card or bank account. Learn more about eBay fees.
  3. Confirm your identity.
  4. Decide how you want your buyers to pay you. PayPal and merchant credit card are accepted payment methods. All sellers must offer at least one of these in most categories.

  1. If you've chosen PayPal as your payment method, link your eBay account to your PayPal account. You’ll be guided through this process in the business registration flow or you can watch our step-by-step video. However, if you lose your place, link your accounts here.
  2. Consider opening an eBay Store. Select the Store that’s right for your business and get access to free listing entitlements, lower final value fees and create your own Store front customised to your brand.
  3. Integrate your existing website. Many eCommerce providers like Neto and Shopify offer automatic eBay integration. Or use an integration tool like Codisto Connect. See a list of providers here.
